Teletalk Provide Broadband Internet Services In Upazila

Reports have surfaced that state owned telecom operator Teletalk has plans to provide high speed broadband internet in upazila. It has started taking necessary steps to ensure high speed internet service provision as well as voice calls in cheaper rates. Moreover, there is the possibility that Teletalk will be entering the share market in 2016 in order to facilitate the financing as well as hiring of necessary manpower.

Sources within Teletalk have confirmed that there’s a high possibility of the operator providing broadband internet in a few upazilas within this year. And within the next year, mobile broadband access, digital services and voice calls in low rates will be launched in all corners of Bangladesh. The source has further informed that on the 16th, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, President of the Permanent Committee regarding Posts, Telecommunication and ICT Imran Ahmed and committee member Moazzem Hossein Ratan visited the Teletalk HQ and issued the aforementioned directives following a meeting with Teletalk officials.

They also urged Teletalk to expedite their work on overcoming obstacles in order to improve service provision. Moreover, to help achieve these goals, the other state owned telecom company BTCL has already taken initiatives to hire 3,000-4,000 linemen.
